Binta Tofail
Karishma Binta Tofail is a PhD student in Sociology at the University of Ottawa, where her research examines health inequalities, digital environments, and human trafficking in Canada. She also holds a Master’s degree in Sociology from the University of Ottawa and graduate and undergraduate degrees in Mathematics from the University of Dhaka.
Karishma brings a strong background in research, data analysis, education, and community service. She has worked as a researcher and teaching assistant at the University of Ottawa and has experience supporting Indigenous-focused research and policy initiatives. Her professional experience also includes teaching and early childhood education in Canada and Bangladesh, as well as supporting orphaned and at-risk youth.
With her combination of analytical expertise and hands-on experience with children and vulnerable communities, Karishma is passionate about using education, research, and evidence-based approaches to create positive social impact.
